DoorKing 9590 Maximum Security Slide Gate Operator | Class III/IV | 10 HP | 28,000 lb

The DoorKing 9590 is a Class III and Class IV maximum security slide gate operator rated for gates up to 28,000 lbs (12,700 kg) and 160 ft (48 m) in length. Powered by a 10 HP motor through a 30:1 continuous oil bath gearbox, the 9590 is the heaviest-duty operator in the DoorKing maximum security line and is specified for the most demanding access control installations: border crossings, military main gates, large correctional facilities, major airport and seaport perimeters, power generation facilities, and critical infrastructure sites where gate size, weight, and security classification exceed what lighter-duty operators can accommodate. Class III and IV are restricted-access commercial and industrial classifications — this operator is not for residential use.

10 HP / 30:1 Fail-Secure Gearbox

The 9590's 10 HP motor paired with a 30:1 gearbox delivers the highest torque output in the 9500 series. The 30:1 configuration is fail-secure: when power is removed, the gate cannot be moved without a mechanical disconnect. No vehicle force, no manual push, no coasting during a grid failure or emergency. For installations where perimeter integrity must hold regardless of power status, this is the specification that accomplishes it.

#100 Roller Chain Drive

Like all 9500 series operators, the 9590 drives the gate with #100 high-tensile steel roller chain — a direct mechanical linkage that will not slip and is unaffected by weather, ice, dirt, oil, or grease. The unit ships with 20 ft of #100 roller chain and chain brackets. A chain tray kit (p/n 2601-270) is available in 10-ft sections and is recommended for gates exceeding 20 ft.

Electrical and Control

The 9590 accepts 208, 230, or 460 VAC single or three-phase input. Adjustable solid-state variable speed control delivers slow-start and slow-stop operation at 1–2 ft/sec, reducing mechanical load on heavy gates during high-cycle operation. Standard features include anti-tailgating, adjustable partial open, selectable stop/reverse loop function, and direct-driven internal limit switches that cannot be tampered with externally. Two 115 VAC outlets and two plug-in loop detector ports (DKS detectors only) are integrated. Built-in diagnostics check for specific fault conditions at the operator.

Gate Tracker Reporting

The 9590 includes Gate Tracker output compatible with DKS 1833, 1835, 1837, and 1838 access control systems (2358 expansion board required), enabling centralized operator data logging and monitoring across multi-gate facilities.

The 9590 is ETL Listed by Intertek, Made in the USA, and backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Operating range: 10°F to 140°F (-12°C to 62°C).

Both operators are rated at 10 HP with identical gate weight and length capacities. The difference is the gearbox. The 9590 uses a 30:1 gearbox in a fail-secure configuration — the gate cannot be moved without a mechanical disconnect when power is removed. The 9595 uses a 10:1 gearbox with an included magnetic brake and can be back-driven with mechanical assistance after power loss. Choose the 9590 when maintaining a closed perimeter during power interruptions is a hard requirement. Choose the 9595 when manual gate operation capability is needed during a power failure.
